Spoiler: The audience is unaware of the impending black hole until the very last moment.
Samuel is the writer, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and producer for Noxen, a folk-pop band of five O’Connell siblings that evolved from a solo dream-pop project into a cinematic, collaborative venture. Named after a Pennsylvania village known for rattlesnake hunts, Noxen crafts songs about love, family, and rural life, with warm, layered melodies and intimate storytelling. Samuel’s production style adds depth and atmosphere to each track, inviting listeners into a journey best enjoyed with the car windows down.
Samuel spent two years recording, mixing, and mastering Noxen’s first full-length, self-produced album—a labor of love created alongside his siblings. The 10 track album tells an exaggerated version of the O’Connell family’s experience moving and settling into the small town and is named after the annual “Rattlesnake Roundup” that is held there.
In an effort to “slow down time”, in early 2024 Samuel took up the hobby of bird watching. As a pure form of meditation, this practice allowed Samuel to take a breath and focus – appreciating life in a renewed way. So naturally he had to “make a thing” out of it.
He created a dedicated page on instagram called @samsbirds and posts consistent photo galleries and fun nature themed videos.
